Tasmania Jams - Hawthorn Lodge

Tasmania Jams

Jam making in Tasmania is big. The perfect climate and fertile soils provide top quality fruit.

Many jam producers are small and use traditional methods. Many experiment with different combinations of fruit.

The term “Jam” is used in British English and the word “Jelly” often used in the US although both are used in the USA.

Jam is made by taking the best fruit and boiling with sugar to activate the pectin which causes the jam to set. The skill is to reach the setting point.

In the Derwent Valley some of the best fruit is grown and the home of Hawthorn Lodge Jams.
