Our High Tea is a country style High Tea where we use home grown produce or local ingredients. All our jams and spreads are home made. We offer Tasmania country style friendly service and continue the spirit of hospitality that Hawthorn Lodge has been offering for nearly 150 years.

High tea is served in our tea rooms where the fire will be blazing in the cooler months. In the summer the veranda is the perfect place to take tea overlooking the gardens.

We serve high tea in stages and designed to be a leisurely affair with endless top ups of tea or coffee. Yes, you can substitute coffee for tea. All served on real china.
High tea is suitable as a replacement for lunch and we serve from 11 am.

First our finger sandwiches using our own chutneys and relishes and produce we grow.
Second Marie’s very popular home made sausage rolls.
You then move on to Marie’s award winning scones served with Tasmanian clotted cream and our own raspberry jam. Unbeatable, and the clotted cream is very addictive!
Best cream teas in Tasmania
To finish enjoy our home baked bite sized cakes, slices and more. The selection changes.

We serve High Tea with own blend of Organic Lazy Tea which is a normal tea but tastes great. For non tea drinkers we serve locally blended coffee in a plunger or sparkling apple juice or raspberry juice.
You do not need a special occasion to treat yourself or others, however, we love people to come and celebrate birthdays or anniversaries or special family occasions with us.
To reach Hawthorn Lodge drive along the scenic Derwent Valley passing through New Norfolk and on to Bushy Park. We are the last building on Glenora Road before it joins the Gordon River Road. The drive from Hobart takes around 45 minutes and makes a perfect weekend drive for a Hobart High Tea.
After your high tea you are most welcome to wander around our gardens. You might also like to walk around the historic Bushy Park hop houses and village pond or browse the Bushy Park market.
