Driving or Cycling to Hawthorn Lodge
If driving or cycling from Hobart or Hobart Airport head north to New Norfolk on the Lyell Highway which is route A10. Follow signs for New Norfolk and Mt Field National Park. The drive should take around 45 minutes.
Keep driving or pedalling through New Norfolk. Do not cross the Derwent River at the circle just go straight across and join Glenora Road which is route B62. Look for signs for Bushy Park and also Mt Field.
Drive or pedal for 19km to the village of Bushy Park which will take around 15 minutes. A very pleasant drive along the Derwent River.
Keep going through Bushy Park. Hawthorn Lodge is on the corner of Uxbridge and Glenora Road and easy to see on your left. If you hit the junction at the end of Glenora Road you have just passed the entrance.
Please park inside and not in the road.
If coming from the north take the Gordon River Road route B61 from the Lyell Highway which is route A10. Look for the Bushy Park and Mt Field sign. We are about five minutes drive from this turning.
You will cross both the Derwent and Styx river. Turn left into Glenora Road route B62 in the village of Bushy Park. Hawthorn Lodge is the first building on the right. If you see the Roadhouse you have gone too far along!
From Mt Field National park turn right off the B61 into Glenora Road in Bushy Park and you will see Hawthorn Lodge on the right.
Buses from New Norfolk to Bushy Park depart from New Norfolk Central in the Laskey car park in Pioneer Avenue.
On school days buses leave Bushy Park at 7.11am arriving into New Norfolk at 7.40am (route 139). During school vacations at the same time but the bus (route 138) carries onto Hobart arriving at 8.45am.
Going to Bushy Park the bus leaves New Norfolk Central at 4.25pm arriving about 5pm in Bushy Park.
Buses run from New Norfolk to Hobart roughly each hour until about 9pm on weekday evenings. We can pick you up from New Norfolk Central if pre-arranged and do not charge.
We can arrange for you be picked up in Hobart or Hobart Airport and charge $80 or $120 for the return trip for your whole party (up to 6). If you book a transfer we will also provide a free transfer to Mt Field.
Our general pick up in Hobart is the visitor centre at 16 – 20 Davey Street. However we are able to pick up at other locations if you advise us.
